I focus at present on the following issues: context as it impacts naturalistic theories of thought and knowledge; what I call partial knowledge; the prospects for naturalizing norms with the help of evolutionary theory and cognitive science; the interactions between cognitive science and social science. Some of my writings can be found in the ‘Publications’ rubric.

I participate in a number of collaborative projects. One is Culture and Mind (P.I. Stephen Lawrence, Sheffield) ; another is the Compas group, a think tank on new technologies in education within the Institut de l’Ecole normale supérieure (IENS); yet another is Biosoc, which brings together biologists, economists, ecologists and philosophers reflecting on sustainable development policies in different countries and how better to deploy scientific knowledge in the decision-making process.

I was the first president of the Société de philosophie des sciences, and head the Program Committee of its third congress, SPS-09, to be held in Paris, Nov. 12-14, 2009. The main theme of the congress is "Science and decision".
